Staverton Ju-Jistu

Welcome to Staverton Ju Jitsu

A message from Sensei Phil Arlett: I founded Staverton Ju-Jitsu in Wiltshire and although we have only been training at this location for a little over a year now, all involved have been studying martial arts for many years. Staverton Ju-Jitsu is registered with Genshin Kai International, the Cobra Martial Arts Association and the International Alliance Of Martial Arts Schools. All instructors are fully qualified, insured and have enhanced C.R.B. clearance.

Our club is located within Staverton C of E Primary School, School Lane, Staverton, Wiltshire. Their hall provides a pleasant and safe environment to teach children and adults alike.

Staverton Primary School

Staverton Ju-Jitsu is in no way exclusive to teachers of the school, students or their parents. All who are interested are more than welcome to join regardless of size, gender, colour, experience or ability.

Staverton Ju-Jitsu is a small club and lessons only run on Tuesday & Thursday evenings, however we take it very seriously and strive for continuous improvement towards perfection.

If you want to learn a new skill, develop your martial art skill's, learn an effective self defence method or just want to increase your awareness and self-confidence, Staverton Ju-Jitsu can meet your needs. Our training methods can be adapted to accommodate all levels of physical ability, skill and intensity.

Training in the martial arts will undoubtedly maximise your physical condition, improving strength, flexibility and cardio vascular fitness, but more than that, it will improve your mental health, reducing stress, increasing confidence and awareness.

As with all club's affiliated with Genshin Kai there is no pressure on pupils to perform for the sake of tournaments or awards. You might gain your black belt in just a few years, or it could take you a decade. You will learn at your own pace and hopefully have fun and get fit along the way. We're not here to punish you into fighting your way through the ranks quickly. Our club has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, which we feel is more conducive to learning for all.

Everyone who passes through the Genshin Kai system will emerge at the other end with their own individual fighting style, but what is important to us is that our pupils learn to be safe, not win competitions.

On grading days students can show their friends and family the techniques they have learned to achieve their next belt and an award is given to the student who performed the best grading of the day.

All members of Staverton Ju-Jitsu are encouraged to make any suggestions about any part of the club whether it is regarding the lessons themselves or the running of the Dojo, please do not hesitate to contact us, as the club would not exist without its students, we respect your opinions and would like to hear from you, Juniors & Seniors alike.

We are now proud to announce that the last Thursday evening senior session of every month will be taken by Sensei Les Davies, 5th DAN, Head Founder of the BU JUTSU STREETWISE FOUNDATION. For more information on Sensei Les Davies & the classes & workshops he runs visit our Profiles page.
